An East L.A. high school volleyball coach has been arrested on allegations of having sex with one 15-year-old student and “inappropriately” touching another, officials said Monday.

Jonathan Adam Roldan, 23, of East Los Angeles was arrested Friday evening on suspicion of lewd acts with a minor, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said. He was being held on $1-million bail and was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Roldan’s arrest came the same day a 15-year-old girl reported his alleged acts to officials at Esteban E. Torres High School in East L.A., sheriff’s officials said. School officials notified the Sheriff’s Department, launching an investigation by its special victims bureau.

During the investigation, detectives identified the second 15-year-old girl; authorities allege she was “inappropriately touched by the suspect.”

Roldan, described as a campus aide and a girls junior varsity volleyball coach, will be placed on unpaid leave once he is formally charged, the L.A. Unified School District said in a statement. If convicted, the district added, he will be fired.

“Supt. John Deasy is recommending moving ahead with the dismissal process at the earliest opportunity,” the statement said.

The district said it notified parents and guardians of the arrest with a weekend phone call but also sent a letter home with students Monday. Crisis counselors would be available at the high school Tuesday, officials said.

“The district takes these charges very seriously,” the statement said. “Every precaution is taken throughout L.A. Unified to ensure the safety of students and staff.”

An investigation into the alleged incidents is ongoing. Authorities urged anyone with information about the alleged incidents or other potential victims to contact detectives at (877) 710-5273 or leave information anonymously at (800) 222-8477.
