A man who allegedly sexually assaulted a teenager at a Santa Ana mall last week and two days later attempted to sexually attack a woman in the parking lot of an Anaheim church was charged with six felonies and faces up to 27 years in prison if convicted, prosecutors said Monday.

Raymond Boykin was arrested Friday. District attorney’s investigators believe there may be additional victims and are asking for the public’s help in finding any, according to a statement from the Orange County Dist. Atty.’s office.

Police say Boykin, 18, robbed and sexually assaulted the 19-year-old woman Wednesday morning when she tried to get into her car in the parking lot of Westfield MainPlace mall.

She escaped and ran until a woman who was driving nearby opened her car door and let her in, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

Officers were able to identify Boykin because he took the woman’s purse and used the money to buy a phone at a Verizon store minutes later, Bertagna said.

Two days later, Santa Ana officers were looking for him at addresses in Anaheim when they heard that police in that city were responding to the scene of a similar attack.

A 42-year-old woman who called police about 6:30 a.m. Friday said she was walking to her car in a church parking lot when a man attacked her, pushed her into the car, tried to rob her and sexually assault her, said Anaheim police Sgt. Bob Dunn.

The woman escaped, ran across the road to a gas station and called police, Dunn said. When she returned with police, her car was gone.

Boykin was arrested later that morning after an officer spotted the woman’s car, which was being driven in Anaheim. Boykin and three others were inside. He initially fled but was detained at a nearby home where he was hiding in a bathroom, authorities said.

Boykin was charged with felony forcible oral copulation, second-degree robbery, vehicle theft, evading police and two felony counts of assault with the intent to commit a sexual offense. He also faces sentencing enhancements for allegedly using a deadly weapon, prosecutors said.

He is being held at men’s Central Jail in Santa Ana on $1-million bail and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Supervising Dist. Atty. investigator Paul Carvo at (714) 347-8794 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) 847-6227.
