A 22-year-old Oceanside man was charged with pimping and pandering a woman he contacted on Facebook, prosecutors said Thursday afternoon.

Javious Demetrius Fogle is accused of having a previous relationship with the victim and reaching out to her on Facebook after he found her profile, according to the Orange County district attorney’s office.

Officials with the district attorney’s office said in a statement that Fogle is accused of being a “modern-day slave owner who exploits women and/or children for financial gain.”

Prosecutors said Fogle met the victim and convinced her to engage in commercial sex. He told her “he would be able to pay off debts and make a great deal of money together,” according to the district attorney’s office.

Officers from a multi-agency human trafficking task force investigated the case and arrested Fogle on Tuesday at a motel in Anaheim.

He was charged with one felony count each of pimping and pandering and was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at the Central Jail in Santa Ana.
