West Covina man gets 25 years for killing wife after alleged affair

A West Covina man was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years to life in prison for killing his wife after his girlfriend reportedly called off their affair.

Tomas Rodriguez Infante, 62, also was ordered to pay roughly $11,700 to his wife’s family for her funeral costs and $5,000 to the county’s Victim-Witness Assistance Program, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Infante was convicted in June of killing his wife, Charito Vega Tolentino, on Jan. 13, 2013, after his girlfriend found out he was married and ended their relationship, prosecutors said.

The day after his girlfriend broke up with Infante, Tolentino, 57, went missing.

Her body was found days later in the trunk of her car parked outside the Hawaiian Gardens Casino in the 11800 block of Carson Street.

She had been beaten and stabbed to death.

Prosecutors alleged surveillance video from the casino, blood evidence collected at the home and cellphone records connected Infante to the crime.
