Pomona shooting suspect found by police ... in jail

Share

Pomona police searching for a man suspected of shooting a woman and pistol-whipping another didn’t have to look far to find him.

Isaac Serrano, 27, a suspected gang member, was arrested a day later in the El Monte jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.

It all started about 6:30 p.m. Saturday when Pomona police say Serrano confronted his two alleged victims in their apartment in the 600 block of North Huntington Avenue. Serrano believed the pair had been involved in a nearby burglary, officials said in a statement, and during the argument became violent and “shot one victim and beat the other with his handgun.”

Children who were in the apartment and witnessed the incident were not injured, police said.

Serrano was gone before authorities arrived. When police identified him as the shooter, they learned he was arrested on Sunday by El Monte police for a DUI and was still in custody.

Pomona police took him into custody Monday afternoon. He is being held in lieu of $1-million bail.
