The man appeared to have been painting a three-story apartment building in the 6600 block of West 86th Place, said Cameron Coll, who arrived at the scene not long after the accident.
“I guess he went up to finish the third story,” said Coll, who graduated this year from Pacifica Christian High School.
“He was on fire for a minute,” Coll said.
Edison workers arrived at 4:07 p.m. to cut power to the lines, and the man was determined to be dead at the scene at 4:54 p.m., the Fire Department said.
The cause of death had not yet been determined, but it was probably electrical, a Fire Department spokesman said.
