Pregnant woman stabbed by boyfriend in San Bernardino, authorities say

Three people were taken to the hospital with stab wounds after a San Bernardino man sent explicit photos of his pregnant girlfriend to her family and then attacked her when she confronted him, collapsing her lung, authorities said.

The incident occurred about 11:15 p.m. Monday outside the home of Daniel Vergara-Flores in the 25300 block of 20th Street, the San Bernardino County sheriff’s department said in a statement.

During an argument, Vergara-Flores allegedly shoved the 23-year-old woman, who is several months pregnant, against a car and then stabbed her near her right armpit.

When the woman’s brother came to defend her, Vergara-Flores allegedly stabbed him in the stomach and back. The men then fought, Vergara-Flores lost control of the knife and his girlfriend’s brother stabbed him back.

All three were taken to area hospitals, where the woman’s fetus was determined to be unharmed, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Bachman. Vergara-Flores was in intensive care, Bachman said. The condition of the others was not immediately known.

Vergara-Flores will be booked on suspicion of attempted murder, authorities said. He was on probation for an assault with a deadly weapon conviction from 2013 and out on bail from a domestic violence arrest in February involving the same girlfriend.
