Reality TV star and singer Ray J was arrested in Beverly Hills on Friday night after police officers responded to complaints that he grabbed a woman's derriere.
Ray J, whose birth name is William Ray Norwood Jr., was involved in an altercation at the bar at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, authorities said.
Police officers arrived around 7:30 p.m. after receiving a call about sexual battery. A woman at the bar alleged that Ray J grabbed her behind. Police later determined that the contact was an accident.
After speaking to officers, Ray J agreed to leave the hotel, police said. The 33-year-old entertainer went to the valet to retrieve his car when, police said, he became aggressive with hotel staff.
"He subsequently entered the valet area and became belligerent with the valets and refused to leave," according to a statement from the Beverly Hills Police Department.
Hotel security repeatedly asked Ray J to leave. When he refused, they called police to have him arrested. Police officers took him into custody and placed him in the back of the police car.
"He became belligerent and used his feet to shatter the side window of the police vehicle," according to the police statement.
Officers removed Ray J from the car in order to restrain his feet, at which time "he became combative and spat into the face of one of the officers," police said.
Ray J is being charged with trespassing, vandalism, resisting arrest, and battery on a police officer. His bail has been set at $20,000.
Ray J is the younger brother of singer and "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Brandy. He had a brief career as a singer. Most recently, he has gained attention as Kim Kardashian's reported partner in a sex tape. He has also starred in several VH1 reality shows and is slated to appear in the upcoming reality show "Love and Hip Hop: Los Angeles."Copyright © 2014, Los Angeles Times
