Man makes off with cash drawer in Auto Zone robbery in Santa Ana

Man grabs entire cash drawer and runs from Auto Zone store in Santa Ana

Santa Ana detectives are seeking the public's help in finding a robber who pulled out a gun, grabbed a cash register drawer and fled from an Auto Zone store.

The man entered the Auto Zone on South Harbor Boulevard on Thursday evening and threatened a clerk with a semiautomatic handgun before making off with the cash drawer, police said.

The suspect sped off in a silver Mitsubishi SUV driven by a male accomplice, heading southbound on Harbor Boulevard, police said.

The suspect is described as being between 28 and 38 and 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8 and weighing 150 to 170 pounds.

The man had a black mustache, tattoos on his arms and legs and -- at the time of the robbery -- was wearing a black baseball hat with white logo, sunglasses, a white and brown checked shirt, tan shorts, white sneakers, and he was carrying a small dark blue bag
