Firefighters extinguish brush fire in Santa Paula that burned utility shed and vehicle
Ventura County firefighters quickly confined a small brush fire near a golf course in Santa Paula after it broke around noon on Friday.
The brush fire was spotted around 12:15 p.m. Friday in Santa Paula near South Mountain Road, said Brian McGrath, Ventura County Fire Department spokesman.
Fire crews quickly confined the fire, which was near Mountain View Golf Course.
Officials initially said the fire had burned five acres and had destroyed one structure, a utility shed.
They later reported that fire crews had contained the slow-moving blaze at approximately two acres. They also confirmed one utility vehicle that was on commercial property also had burned.
Fire officials scaled back their initial requests for helicopters, air tankers and water tenders. Two helicopters and 80 firefighters remained on the scene to finish extinguishing the blaze.
A local radio station in Ventura County reported that people on the golf course had been evacuated.
