Law enforcement authorities in Los Angeles were seeking the public's help Wednesday in identifying a man who sexually assaulted a woman on a Metro Purple Line train.
The victim was assaulted around 10:45 p.m. on May 17 after boarding the train at the Wilshire/Western Station, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which patrols the transit system.
As the train headed to Union Station, the suspect pushed the woman to the ground and assaulted her.
"The victim was able to kick the suspect, break free and exit the train once it stopped at the Wilshire/Normandie Station," authorities said in a statement.
The attacker is described by authorities as an African American who is between 35 and 45 years old. He is about 5 foot 9 with black hair and brown eyes and weighs between 180 and 200 pounds.
