Winter dealt a brisk slap to Southern California once again overnight as light winds and slightly drier air resulted in chilly conditions throughout the region.

A frost advisory will expire at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the the San Gabriel Valley, where at least two hours of freezing or near-freezing temperatures were expected, according to the National Weather Service.

In Ventura County interior valleys, a hard freeze warning was in effect until Wednesday morning with a freeze watch through Thursday morning, according to the weather service. A hard freeze can damage crops and harm outdoor pets.

Temperatures in the Ojai Valley were expected to drop into the lower to mid-20s Wednesday evening.

At ski resorts across California, a series of snowstorms that began last week in the Sierra Nevada has given skiers and snowboarders the best snow in years.

In Los Angeles, high temperatures will reach the low 60s with lows in the 40s at night. Forecasters expect the weather to warm up slightly with temperatures in the mid-60s Thursday and into the weekend.

But the slightly warmer mornings don’t mean it’s time to put the peacoats away just yet -- there is a chance of rain Sunday night and early next week.
