Turlock police are investigating a possible murder-suicide after four bodies were discovered in a home Thursday evening.

The victims include a 78-year-old man, his 70-year-old wife, and their two sons, 42 and 39, the Modesto Bee reported. A family member reportedly discovered the bodies in the 3000 block of Red Oak Court on Thursday night.

Police have not determined how the family members were killed, but believe they were dead for at least 24 hours before being found, Turlock police spokeswoman Mayra Lewis told the Bee. Investigators said they detected the odor of gas in the house.

Police did not release the names of the dead, and believe the deaths are an isolated incident. Neighbors told the Bee that one of the sons was developmentally disabled.

Turlock police asked anyone with information to contact Det. Brandon Bertram at (209) 668-5550 ext. 6623.
