Inland Empire woman arrested on suspicion of setting boyfriend on fire after a fight

A San Bernardino woman is accused of setting her boyfriend on fire after an argument, officials said Monday.

Stacy Mahle, 52, got into an argument Saturday with her 43-year-old boyfriend at a home in the 1400 block of North Wall Avenue, said San Bernardino police Sgt. Gary Robertson. After the argument, the couple retired to different rooms.

A previous version of this post said the man was taken to San Bernardino Medical Center; it is St. Bernardine Medical Center.

The man, whose identity is being withheld, fell asleep in the living room and awoke to find himself on fire about 7 a.m.

“He woke up, found himself on fire and she was gone,” Robertson said.

Mahle was arrested about 12 hours later on suspicion of attempted arson, attempted murder and domestic violence.

The man was taken to San Bernardino Medical Center, where he was being treated for third-degree burns over his lower legs and part of his chest, Robertson said.
