A woman was killed and a man suffered minor injuries after they were hit by gunfire during a party in Carson, authorities said Sunday.

A fight broke out between several partygoers shortly before 10:35 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 19700 block of South Enslow Drive, said Deputy Tony Moore of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The altercation moved out into the street, where a man took out a handgun and fired several rounds toward the crowd, Moore said.

A woman on the scene was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A male victim was treated for injuries that were not life threatening, the deputy said.
