While the arrival of El Niño-fueled storms this week may have put some Angelenos in a slight panic, others have found solace in the new weather.

Laine Bateman snapped this photo on his iPhone 6S in Beverly Hills after observing the mute, gray scene from his car window. It was such a contrast to the usual crisp and saturated colors of L.A., he said.

“We rarely have such moody days and I wanted to remember the feeling,” Bateman said.

Forecasters expect storms to roll into Southern California through the end of the week.
