Reader Photo: A tricycle in the desert

Share

Some Angelenos find complete misery in gray skies and chilly weather. Others see them as an opportunity.

Two weeks ago, photographer Lynn Longos and a friend headed to the desert to take advantage of the deviant SoCal weather and photograph the dry landscape against the dim skies. Her first stop was Vasquez Rocks in Agua Dulce, a community about 45 miles north of Los Angeles.

While there, she spotted a dad and his children -- all in pajamas -- with the red tricycle in tow. Captivated by the contrast between the trike and the rocks, she snapped a photo.

“I loved the innocence of the little red bike and the giant, jagged rocks lurking in the background,” she said.

Longos made the image using a Canon 5D Mark III with a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens on Nov. 30.
