7-year-old girl sole survivor of Kentucky plane crash; child walked to a stranger's home for help

A 7-year-old girl in southwest Kentucky is the only survivor of a small plane crash that killed four others Friday night, according to authorities.

The plane crashed in a wooded area of Eddyville off Buckberry Trail, which runs off 810 South, according to a statement from Kentucky State Police.

Around 6:30 p.m. local time, authorities received a call from a resident who said a child had come to their home and said she had just been in a plane crash.

Authorities found the crash site and determined there were no other survivors, according to the statement.

The child was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

FAA Memphis Center confirmed there was a distress call from a private plane in the vicinity of the reported crash, police said.

No other information about the passengers or pilot was released.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
