It was a place that crooks feared and cops loved. Parker Center was the nation's most modern police facility when it opened its glass doors 57 years ago. But as happens to a patrolman on the beat, old age finally took its toll. Its occupants are packing up and moving on. Det. Gus Villanueva reminisces about his days there.

Gut it, strip it and refurbish it, either as an annex, lab or a continuity of operations center. The building is like a landmark to the City of Los Angeles.
