Danny Dark, 65; Voice-Over Expert Began Career in Radio

Danny Dark, 65, a voice-over specialist whose actual surname was Croskery, died June 14 in Los Angeles of undisclosed causes.

The mellow-voiced announcer began his career in radio in 1956 in Springfield, Mo. He went on to a radio station in Tulsa, Okla., before moving to Los Angeles and radio station KLAC in 1963.

But commercials proved more lucrative, and from 1965 on he did voice work for Budweiser, Camaro, AT&T;, Kmart, Texaco, Armor All, Whitman’s Chocolates, Keebler Cookies and NBC-TV.

He was also the voice-over announcer for the television shows “Bewitched” and “Bonanza” and voiced several roles on the children’s cartoon series “Super Friends.”
