Fischer sisters in Texas for water polo tournament
Some of the top international women’s water polo talent will be in Texas later this month to compete at the FINA Women’s Intercontinental Tournament.
The event will run Feb. 16-21 at the Lewisville ISD Westside Aquatic Center in Lewisville, Texas. The tournament is a qualifying event for the 2016 FINA World League Super Final in June, and will feature the reigning Olympic and World champions, Team USA, along with Australia, Brazil, Canada, China and Japan.
Sisters Makenzie and Aria Fischer of Laguna Beach were among 17 players on the USA Women’s Senior National Team’s 2015 roster.
The top four teams from the tournament will qualify for the FINA World League Super Final June 7-12 in Shanghai, China.
The USA Women had a 41-6 record in 2015 and took the gold medal at the Pan American Games, FINA World League Super Final and FINA World Championship.
