Angels end three-game losing streak with 5-4 win over Texas

AT THE PLATE: The Angels ended a three-game losing streak when Johnny Giavotella doubled to lead off the ninth, took third on Eric Stamets’ single and scored the winning run on a wild pitch. Marc Krauss, who is battling for a reserve spot, followed Taylor Featherston’s eighth-inning walk with a two-run home run to right-center off Lisalverto Bonilla to tie the score, 4-4. Matt Joyce, who returned to the lineup after missing two games because of tightness in his right side, beat out an infield single in the fourth and scored on C.J. Cron’s towering two-run homer to left-center, his first of the spring.

ON THE MOUND: Hector Santiago blanked the Rangers for two innings before giving up a single to Rougned Odor and a two-run homer to Leonys Martin in the third. Reliever Scott Snodgress showed why he’s a candidate for a left-handed specialist role, entering with two on and two outs in the fourth and getting the left-handed-hitting Odor to line out to first. Snodgress added a one-two-three fifth. Fernando Salas, Mike Morin and Vinnie Pestano threw scoreless innings.

EXTRA BASES: Garrett Richards, who is recovering from surgery on his left knee, threw to hitters in a two-inning, 41-pitch simulated game and is expected to pitch in an exhibition game next week. … Closer Huston Street was scheduled to pitch Tuesday but got sick before the game. … Cuban infielder Roberto Baldoquin’s arrival has been delayed by a government strike in Haiti, where Baldoquin is waiting for a temporary work visa to travel to the U.S. Baldoquin has spent the past year in the Dominican Republic but established residency in Haiti.
