Clippers’ Chris Kaman is making summer plans

Share

No one can dispute that Clippers center Chris Kaman has made good use of his summer vacations, some more eclectic than others.

Now Kaman is considering playing for Germany at the European championships in Lithuania in the summer. They start in late August and run well into September and serve as a qualifier for next year’s Olympics in London.

“If Dirk plays, I will,” Kaman said Wednesday before the Clippers played host to the Washington Wizards.

That would be his buddy and Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki. Dallas will play the Clippers at Staples Center next Wednesday and Kaman said the two might talk about the issue.

“If he’s not playing, then I’m not playing,” Kaman said. “It’s all on him.”

The biggest issue will be how deep the Mavericks go into the playoffs.

Kaman made big news at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing when he represented Germany by virtue of his great-grandparents’ German heritage.

And now, who hasn’t wanted to see Lithuania in the summer?

Etc.

Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro said that ailing center DeAndre Jordan, who was hospitalized last weekend because of a mild case of pneumonia, was recovering after having lost some weight.

“DeAndre’s feeling better,” Del Negro said. “He was at shootaround this morning for a little bit, but he won’t play this evening. He’s still got to get some food in him and get his strength back.”

Quotable

Jamario Moon, on whether he was named after a family member: “No, some dude on a soap opera.”
