Canucks fans take their swings at Blackhawks
VANCOUVER -- While it wasn’t exactly carnage on the streets of Vancouver, some Canucks fans were getting fired up in a destructive way for Game 1 of the Western Conference quarterfinals against the Chicago Blackhawks.
A few blocks away from Rogers Arena, site of Wednesday night’s series opener, a local radio station had Canucks fans use a sledgehammer to destroy a van with the Blackhawks’ logo on it. It was all in the name of charity--and team spirit, apparently--as the fans paid a $10 donation to the “Make a Wish Foundation”for their chance to cause some damage.
Perhaps even more destructive than the blows with the sledgehammer was the music Rock 101 was blaring on the streets scenic Vancouver. “No Sugar Tonight” by The Guess Who was enough to drive Team Tribune from the scene and into the relative safety of the Rogers Arena media room.
