* at Boston College 28, No. 17 Virginia Tech 23: Rich Gunnell returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown and the Eagles (5-1, 2-1) overcame an off-night by quarterback Chris Crane to beat the Hokies (5-2, 2-2). Crane had three passes intercepted -- two of them returned for touchdowns -- and fumbled for another turnover. But Boston College stayed in the game with its defense, which limited Virginia Tech to a season-low 240 total yards.

* at Virginia 16, No. 18 North Carolina 13 (OT): Cedric Peerman scored from two yards in overtime to lift the Cavaliers (4-3, 2-1) over the Tar Heels (5-2, 1-2) at Charlottesville. Virginia trailed 10-3 with 2:18 to play, but Peerman scored on a two-yard run with 47 seconds left in regulation and Robert Randolph’s conversion was barely good to send the game into overtime.

* at Maryland 26, No. 21 Wake Forest 0: Chris Turner threw for 321 yards to back a strong defensive showing by the Terrapins (5-2, 2-1) in a victory over the Demon Deacons (4-2, 2-1) at College Park. It was the fifth straight win over a top 25 team for Maryland and first shutout of a ranked opponent since Sept. 24, 1955, a 7-0 win over top-ranked UCLA.

* Miami 49, at Duke 31: Jacory Harris threw four touchdown passes and ran for a score, accounting for three third-quarter touchdowns to lead the Hurricanes (4-3, 1-2) over the Blue Devils (3-3, 1-2) at Durham, N.C. Harris, a freshman, took over for starter Robert Marve in the second quarter and became the first Miami quarterback to throw for four scores and account for five TDs since 2005, when Kyle Wright did it against Wake Forest.

* Georgia Tech 21, at Clemson 17: Josh Nesbitt threw for one touchdown and rushed for another to lead the Yellow Jackets (6-1, 3-1) over the Tigers (3-4, 1-3) at Clemson, S.C., to spoil the debut of Coach Dabo Swinney.
