Bail was set at $50,000 for the 18-year-old, Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, said Thursday.

The alleged victim flagged down a sheriff’s deputy after the incident in the 1000 block of Almond Street in Compton.

Simmons was the driver, Hall the passenger in a vehicle later stopped by deputies, officials said, and belongings allegedly from the victim and a handgun were confiscated, Whitmore said.

An athletic department spokesman said USC was aware of Simmons’ arrest and was trying to gather more information.
