Pretty sure this qualifies as a decent week for Adrian Gonzalez.

Two days after earning his fourth Gold Glove Award, he was named the National League Silver Slugger winner for best hitting first baseman.

Gonzalez becomes just the fourth Dodger to win the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove awards in the same season, joining Dusty Baker (1981), Russell Martin (2007) and Matt Kemp (2009, 2011). He is the only player to win both for 2014.

The Silver Slugger Award started in 1980 and is voted on by managers and coaches.

It is the second career Silver Slugger Award for Gonzalez, who won in 2011 in the American League with the Red Sox. He’s only the third Dodgers’ first baseman (Eddie Murray, 1990, and Eric Karros, 1995) to win a Silver Slugger.

Gonzalez, 32, led all major leaguers with 116 RBIs last season. He had 27 homers, a .276 batting average and .335 on-base and .482 slugging percentages.

He was selected over the Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo (.286, 32 HRs, 78 RBIs), Justin Morneau (.319, 18 HRs, 82 RBIs) and the Mets’ Lucas Duda (.253, 30 HRs, 92 RBIs).
