Dodgers activate Hyun-Jin Ryu and Juan Uribe

Starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu and third baseman Juan Uribe were activated from the 15-day disabled list Sunday for the Dodgers’ series finale against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park.

Ryu, who is 13-8 with a 3.28 earned-run average, will start against the Padres.

Ryu was sidelined with a strained right buttock muscle. He last pitched in Atlanta on Aug. 13.

Uribe, who is batting .293, will start at third base. Even though Justin Turner played well in Uribe’s absence, Manager Don Mattingly said Uribe will resume being the team’s everyday third baseman.

Uribe was out with a strained right hamstring.

To clear roster spots for Ryu and Uribe, the Dodgers optioned right-hander Carlos Frias and infielder Miguel Rojas to triple-A Albuquerque. Frias and Rojas are expected to return to the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Major-league rosters expand Monday, but Frias and Rojas aren’t eligible to be called up until Albuquerque’s season ends.
