City Section Division I

Crenshaw (11-2) vs. Carson (11-2) at the Coliseum, 1 p.m. — Carson enters as the top-seeded team, but the Colts are the underdog based on No. 2 Crenshaw’s domination in the playoffs. Crenshaw’s offensive and defensive lines have imposed their will, helping the Cougars outscore three playoff opponents, 156-26. A move early in the season, putting Jerry McConico at quarterback and Marquis Thompson at receiver, has paid big dividends. However, Carson thrives in an underdog role. The Colts upset Pac-5 semifinalist Santa Ana Mater Dei in their season opener, played a competitive schedule and have lots of talent on offense in quarterback Justin Alo, running back Dion Willis and receiver Darreus Rogers. The pick: Crenshaw.

Southern Section Pac-5 Division

Servite (13-0) vs. Mission Viejo (13-0) at Angel Stadium, 7:30 p.m. Prime Ticket — The top-rated teams from the Southern Section’s most competitive division probably are battling for a spot in a state championship game. The game could be decided by how effectively Servite can stop Mission Viejo when Tre Madden is playing quarterback in the wildcat formation. Madden’s versatility helped knock off Santa Margarita and Mater Dei. The Diablos also have a strong rushing attack, led by Dallas Kessman. Servite’s offense has improved steadily, but the Friars win with defense, and lineman Troy Niklas has been playing like an All-American. The pick: Servite.
