Baseball: West Ranch players make a difference in their community

A group of West Ranch baseball players decided to try to make a difference in their community. The four team captains -- Chase Malynn, Ryan Vergara, Jake Spurlin and Addison Jackson -- helped form the West Ranch Action Team last year.

They have been doing volunteer projects. Their most recent project was holding a softball skills clinic and scrimmage for the Special Olympics Sharks softball teams earlier this month. They coached 27 Special Olympics athletes, ages 15 to 43.

“It was a special and inspirational day for everyone,” Coach Casey Burrill said.
