Boys’ basketball: Westchester opens Western League with rout of Palisades

Westchester (12-5) is starting to put it together just as Western League play began on Monday night.

Keith Fisher scored 17 points in the Comets’ 76-44 win over Palisades. Will Johnson led the Dolphins with 16 points.

Fairfax (16-2, 2-0) defeated Hamilton, 88-45. Donald Gipson had 20 points and Isaiah Bowers and Babacar Thiombane added 15 points apiece. Louis Walker led Hamilton with 21 points. Venice defeated University, 67-42.

In the East Valley League, North Hollywood defeated Arleta, 66-36. Sean Fernandez scored 21 points. Poly defeated Monroe, 80-53. Eric Favors scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds. Luis Galvan added 18 points. Chad Holloway scored 34 points, including seven threes, in Grant’s 80-39 win over Chavez.

In the Coliseum League, Crenshaw defeated Hawkins, 94-44. Chris Kendricks scored 27 points and Ryan Campbell 22.

In the Moore League, Long Beach Millikan (12-4, 3-0) stayed in first place with a 78-67 victory over Long Beach Poly. Mason Dickerson scored 26 points for Millikan.

In the Mission League, Chaminade defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 58-55. Josh Hauser’s three gave Chaminade the lead for good in the final minute. Hauser finished with 13 points. Chibueze Jacobs led Notre Dame with 18 points and Chance Goring had 13.

In the Suburban League, La Mirada opened with a 65-48 win over Mayfair.

In the Pacific League, Burroughs defeated Arcadia, 69-54. Steven Hubbell and Tristen Hull each scored 20 points. Burbank defeated Hoover, 66-52. Pasadena defeated Crescenta Valley, 65-49. Muir defeated Glendale, 55-51.

In the Trinity League, Mater Dei stayed unbeaten with a 73-35 win over JSerra. Spencer Freedman had 16 points.

In a nonleague game, Cleveland defeated Hollywood, 78-62. Wayne Curre scored 20 points.
