Girls’ basketball: North Hollywood wins its first City Section title in Division II
Huskies take Division II girls’ championship
North Hollywood won its first City Section title in girls’ basketball on Friday night, taking the Division II crown with a 61-44 victory over Venice at Roybal.
The Huskies (18-4) used balanced scoring, opening a nine-point halftime lead and taking control in the third quarter.
“They never give up,” Coach Robert Ruffin said of a team loaded with sophomores and juniors.
Giselle Ramirez finished with 14 points, Miya Bleeker had 12 and Aisha Burton 11 and 15 rebounds.
Venice made six three-pointers in the first half but none in the second half. Amy Koshimizu had three threes for Venice.
