Clippers’ Ryan Gomes and DeAndre Jordan try to figure out technical fouls

Technical fouls were flying in the third quarter, one going to a rare Clippers recipient (Ryan Gomes) and a not-so-rare offender (DeAndre Jordan.)

“That was my second one ever,” Gomes said, “ever since I’ve been in the NBA. When [the official] made the call, I kept talking about it instead of leaving it alone. I brought it upon myself, got caught up in the moment.

“I won’t get another. I guess every 2 1/2 years I’ll get one.”

Said Jordan: “It seems like you can’t say anything now. I’m not going to say anything that’s going to get me in trouble. That was … it was crazy.”

A bigger issue was that Jordan played a mere 4:20 in the second half against Charlotte. In all, he had two rebounds and attempted no shots and missed two free throws. Jordan was asked about his playing time, or lack thereof.

“Yeah, whatever, that’s his decision,” he said of Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro. “I’m not really stressing off of it. We won — that’s the main thing.”

Gordon update

Early indications were that Eric Gordon would be out seven to 10 days, and the Clippers didn’t receive any news to change that line of thinking.

Gordon, who aggravated his injured right wrist Saturday, saw Dr. Steve Chin at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic on Monday. Previously, he had been examined by the Clippers’ team doctor, Steven Shimoyama.

Del Negro said before the game that no new damage was discovered in various examinations and he thought that Gordon would be reevaluated at the end of the seven- to 10-day period.

Del Negro was asked whether he thought it might be better to shut Gordon down for the rest of the season but maintained it would be better to judge the team, even for a limited time, in terms of planning for next season.
