Jamey Wright officially added to 40-man roster
PHOENIX -- Jamey Wright was officially added to the 40-man roster on Tuesday, clearing the way for him to make the Dodgers’ opening-day roster as a reliever. The Dodgers cleared a place for him on the 40-man roster by moving Blake Hawksworth to the 60-day disabled list.
Wright, who came into camp on a minor-league contract, said the previous day that General Manager Ned Colletti told him he would make the opening-day roster. He will draw a base salary of $900,000.
Wright can earn an additional $500,000 in incentives: $62,500 for 40 games pitched, $62,500 for 45 games pitched, $75,000 for 50 games pitched, $100,000 for 55 games pitched, $100,000 for 60 games pitched and $100,000 for 65 games pitched.
This will mark the seven consecutive year in which Wright will have entered camp on a minor-league deal and still made an opening-day roster.
Hawksworth’s recovery has taken longer than expected. The hard-throwing reliever underwent a minor operation on his elbow in January. But the elbow became infected, requiring a second procedure. He has been throwing sporadically this spring.
