Ducks backup goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov might be sidelined for a few days. He has what is officially being listed as a lower-body injury, which occurred during practice Monday.

Bryzgalov was unavailable Tuesday and will not join the team in Denver for tonight’s game against the Colorado Avalanche. The Ducks recalled goaltender David McKee from their East Coast Hockey League affiliate in Augusta, Ga.

Bryzgalov was coy about the injury, which is believed to be in the groin area. He said he felt soreness on the breakaways and pronounced himself “day to day.”

With Bryzgalov’s status clouded, it means that Jean-Sebastien Giguere will start on back-to-back nights for the first time this season. Giguere did relieve Bryzgalov on Nov. 10 against Calgary after winning the night before at Vancouver.

“It’s part of being a goalie and you’ve got to be ready for that,” Giguere said.

McKee didn’t arrive in Anaheim until Tuesday morning after an adventurous trip from Augusta. After changing planes in Charlotte, he had to spend the night at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport because his connection to Orange County was overbooked.

“I was in a movie theater watching ‘Gridiron Gang,’ ” McKee said. “Around 5:30 p.m., I got the call to be at the airport in two hours. The flight was at 7:30, I got stuck at [Las] Vegas, spent the night on the airport floor and I got here this morning. What a trip.”
