Huskies lose top pass rusher

Defensive end Joe Mathis, Washington’s best edge pass rusher, will miss the rest of the season because of a foot injury. Mathis, who hasn’t played since Oct. 8, faces surgery.

Baylor’s career rushing leader Shock Linwood, who shoved a graduate assistant during Saturday’s 62-22 loss to TCU, was suspended for this week’s game at Oklahoma. Sooners running back Samaje Perine is expected to play in the game after missing three games with a right leg injury.

Former Tennessee receiver Preston Williams signed a financial aid agreement with Colorado State and will begin practicing with the Rams in January.

Penn State asked a judge to overturn a jury’s $7.3-million award to a former assistant football coach in his defamation case against the school. Attorneys argued that Mike McQueary failed to prove the university defamed him after it became public that his testimony helped prosecutors charge Jerry Sandusky with child molestation.
