FRISCO, Texas -- An overflow sellout crowd of 21,020 turned out to see David Beckham, but Kenny Cooper stole the show.

The FC Dallas star scored two goals in two minutes on the way to a 4-0 victory over Beckham’s Galaxy on Sunday night at Pizza Hut Park.

Cooper matched his career high of 11 goals and moved to within one of the MLS lead. He has five in his last six games.

Cooper had multiple chances at a hat trick, ringing one off the crossbar in the 85th minute.

Dominic Oduro scored a goal and an assist, and Abe Thompson also had a goal for Dallas. Goalkeeper Dario Sala made two saves for his fifth shutout of the season.

The four-goal outburst was the most for Dallas since a 4-0 win over New England on May 20, 2006. Dallas took 25 shots and put 11 on net, both season highs.

After the Galaxy routed Dallas in Frisco, 5-1, on May 18, Dallas returned the favor, ending a four-game winless streak and giving new Coach Schellas Hyndman his first MLS victory.

Dallas (5-6-7) moved into a tie for fourth place in the Western Conference, and the Galaxy (6-7-5), winless in its last six (0-3-3), remains second in the West, missing an opportunity to move past idle Real Salt Lake into first.
