Kings-Sharks power outage: Welcome to the sound of silence
A power outage lasting about six minutes on Thursday at SAP Center just before the Kings and Sharks were to take the ice for their pregame warmup momentarily delayed proceedings.
Officials said Game 1 would still start at its scheduled time: 7:45 p.m.
The lights came back on and the scoreboard flickered to life after a few stops and starts. There was one pleasant byproduct once the players hit the ice: An absence of blaring music during the pregame warmup.
Just pucks, sticks and ice. https://t.co/ohRrQ3rsBG— San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) April 18, 2014
LA Times colleague Helene Elliott (@helenenothelen) tweeted: “Without blaring music, you can actually talk to the person next to you and watch the warmup without getting a headache. What a concept.”
Maybe it will catch on.
