Poor Alex Rodriguez.

The Yankees star was suspended through the 2014 season on Monday by Major League Baseball for his alleged role in the Biogenesis scandal. He has appealed the suspension and is still playing for the Yankees, but he took time out of his day Monday to let us all know one thing: This has been tough on him.

“I just want to express to you guys and the fans of baseball that the last seven months has been a nightmare. Probably the worst time of my life, for sure.”

He goes on to talk about his hip injuries and more adversity, but it was hard to focus because of the immense sadness everyone felt over his difficult life.

There are some people not upset about the scandal, though: The owners and operators of the YES Network.

Rodriguez’s return to the Yankees lineup Monday night helped produce the highest television rating of the season for the team’s regional network.

Monday night’s game between the Yankees and the White Sox in Chicago drew a 4.3 rating. The previous high was a 4.2 for the Yankees’ game against the New York Mets on May 27, according to YES.
