Hedo Turkoglu arrives for workout with Clippers
As the media began to file out of the Clippers’ practice facility Thursday, Hedo Turkoglu was seen getting out of a car and talking to Gary Sacks, the Clippers’ vice president of basketball operations.
Turkoglu, 34, had come from Orlando Thursday morning to the Clippers’ practice facility for his workout with the team in Playa Vista.
The Clippers watched Turkoglu work out in Orlando over the weekend and decided the 6-10 forward was worth bringing out to showcase his skills in front of Clippers Coach Doc Rivers and his staff.
Turkoglu was waived by the Orlando Magic last Friday night after not playing a game this season.
He had been told to stay away from the Magic this season after playing for Orlando in only 11 games last season because of injuries and a 20-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs.
The Clippers are hoping that Turkoglu, whose weight is listed at 220 pounds, still has the ball-handling skills to play forward.
He averaged 11.9 points 42.6% shooting, 38.1% on three-pointers, and 3.1 assists over his 13-year career.
The Clippers have a 15-man roster and would have to waive a player before they could sign Turkoglu.
