The Ducks trimmed their preseason roster to 35 players Monday, sending prospect goaltender John Gibson and defenseman Mat Clark to American Hockey League affiliate Norfolk along with four others.

Gibson, 20, paced the U.S. to a junior world championship and then was in net as the U.S. won the bronze medal in the summer world championships.

He shut out Colorado in the third period last week, but also was torched by the Kings, giving up three goals in a seven-minute span, Sept. 17 at Honda Center.

The Ducks additionally moved left wing/center Joseph Cramarossa, defenseman Kyle Cumiskey, defenseman Alex Grant and right wing Stefan Noesen to Norfolk.

The cuts leave the roster with 19 forwards, 12 defensemen and four goalies.

The team will start the season with 23 active players, but can have others who are injured, like defenseman Sheldon Souray, on the NHL roster.

The Ducks play the Kings at Staples Center on Tuesday night at 7:30.
