Toronto’s Jose Bautista has no apologies for his epic bat flip against Texas

Jose Bautista seems pretty darn pleased with his dramatic three-run home run on Wednesday, not to mention the bat flip to end all bat flips that followed.

Check out the photo the Toronto Blue Jays star posted on Instagram on Wednesday night, after his team advanced to the American League Championship Series with a 6-3 victory over the Texas Rangers.

Not only did Bautista's seventh-inning blast break a 3-3 tie to put the Blue Jays on top for good, it came in front of a Toronto crowd that was still fired up about a bizarre play and controversial call in the top of the inning that gave the Rangers a temporary one-run lead.

So it was a pretty intense moment, and Bautista made it even more so by practically sending his bat into orbit.

"I can't really remember what was going through my mind, to be quite honest with you," Bautista said. "After I made contact, I just, I didn't plan anything that I did. So I still don't even know how I did it. I just enjoyed the moment."

The Rangers certainly didn't enjoy it. Sam Dyson, the Texas reliever who threw the pitch, confronted Toronto's Edwin Encarnacion, leading to both dugouts and bullpens emptying briefly.

“I told him Jose needs to calm that down, respect the game a little more,” Dyson said after the game.

Dyson added of Bautista: "He's a huge role model for the younger generation that's coming up and playing this game," Dyson said of Bautista. "He's doing stuff that kids do in whiffle ball games and backyard baseball. It shouldn't be done."

But don't expect an apology from Bautista any time soon.
