Luc Robitaille to appear tonight on “How I Met Your Mother”

Kings Hall of Fame member Luc Robitaille will make a cameo tonight on the hit television show “How I Met Your Mother.”

Now president of business operations with the club, Robitaille is featured in a portion of the show where the cast is delighted to learn about a singer from the 1990s during a program called “Underneath the Tunes,” a spoof of VH1’s “Behind the Music.”

The cast is enthralled, as many of us are, with the behind-the-scenes story of Robin Sparkles, a Canadian sensation. Here are the big hits: “Let’s Go to the Mall” and “Sandcastles in the Sand.” Yeah, it’s like that.

After learning that they’re about to see Sparkles throw her life away, cast member Alyson Hannigan squeals, “I am so happy right now.” Jason Segel admits, “I want to see her throw her life away, so badly.” Retorts Josh Radnor, “We’re all terrible people. Turn it up.” And Neil Patrick Harris grabs the controller and does just that.

Cue Robitaille, who is featured talking about how listening to Sparkles’ songs was part of his pregame ritual.

“I never admitted this before now, but before a big game, I’d listen to ‘Sandcastles in the Sand’ and get a good cry on,” Robitaille says. “I’m not ashamed.”

Oh the guilty pleasures. The episode airs at 8 tonight on CBS.
