Johnny Manziel has the top-selling jersey in the NFL
Johnny Manziel has yet to take a single snap in an NFL game, but that hasn’t stopped fans from clamoring for his jersey.
Manziel, also known as “Johnny Football” -- a registered trademark -- has the bestselling jersey in the league, according to www.nflshop.com.
Manziel wears No. 2 for the Cleveland Browns.
Manziel, the former star quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner out of Texas A&M University, was taken by Cleveland with the 22nd pick in the NFL Draft in May.
Manziel’s jersey is followed in sales by Seattle Seahawks -- and Super Bowl-winning -- quarterback Russell Wilson (No. 2), San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick (No. 3) and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (No. 4).
Of course, this is not the first time a college star QB entering the NFL turned out monster jersey sales.
In 2010, Tim Tebow, the Denver Broncos first-round selection, also a Heisman Trophy winner out of the University of Florida, had the bestselling jersey among NFL players before he ever took a snap in a pro game. Tebow does not currently play in the league.
