College football logos are popping up on Pop-Tarts

Share

Good news, college football fans: Pop-Tarts are becoming game-ready. Five schools have come to agreement with Kellogg’s to be represented on Pop-Tarts boxes and also will have their logos appear in the frosted topping.

Fans of these schools can get ready for ...

--Bulldog Berry, a strawberry treat with a big “G” logo on the icing to represent red-clad Georgia.

--Razorback Red, another strawberry treat with the mascot Razorback on the icing to represent Arkansas, which also wears red.

--Tar Heel Berry, with the “NC” on the icing to represent North Carolina. By the way, who messed up this one? Wouldn’t it make more sense to make these Pop-Tars filled with blueberry, since the main school color is blue? But nope, they get strawberry too.

--Same goes with Go Blue Strawberry for the Michigan. Huh? The “M” on the icing is gold, so the tart has no blue association. Wonder if this is tailgate-acceptable for Wolverine fans? Going to eat a red tart when Ohio State comes to town?

--Florida Gators Strawberry is the fifth. Has the green Gator with orange trim on the icing. This one works. Everyone knows the alligators’ favorite fruit is the strawberry.

Nothing on the Southern California front yet, probably because the health conscious wouldn’t be thrilled by eating something that has more than 200 calories per tart.

The boxes look pretty cool, though, and should be on regional shelves next month. Enjoy, but I don’t recommend toasting them. It is virtually impossible not to burn your mouth on the fruit filling once it is toasted.
