USC freshman Iman Marshall continues extra work after practice

USC freshman Iman Marshall discusses the improvements he’s made four games into his freshman season.

USC practice ended about 20 minutes early Monday, but as players left Brian Kennedy-Howard Jones field, freshman cornerback Iman Marshall stayed behind.

“When I put in the extra work it is just to better myself as an individual,” Marshall said. “If I am a better individual I can contribute and help my team be a better team.”

Marshall, who was a highly recruited player at Long Beach Poly High, said he was continuing to adjust to the speed and physicality of college football.

“Unlike high school you can’t bully these type of dudes,” he said. “You always have to work your technique and footwork.”

Marshall has played in all four games and started against Stanford and Arizona State. He ranks third on the team with 17 tackles and he’s also broken up two passes.

USC plays Washington on Thursday at the Coliseum.
