USC tailback Javorius Allen tied for sixth in Heisman Trophy poll

USC tailback Javorius Allen is gaining traction in the Heisman Trophy discussion.

The Trojans’ junior tailback is tied for sixth in the weekly straw poll conducted by HeismanPundit.com.

Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott leads the poll, followed by Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota and Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon.

Allen rushed for a career-best 205 yards and three touchdowns in the Trojans’ 28-26 victory over Arizona last week. He also caught four passes for 28 yards.

Allen has rushed for 781 yards and seven touchdowns, and has 23 receptions for 278 yards and one touchdown.

USC plays Colorado on Saturday at the Coliseum.
