Boys’ basketball: Calabasas-Westlake rivalry takes center stage

Share

Calabasas and Westlake play on Wednesday night at Westlake in a Marmonte League game for first place, and the game has taken on new intrigue because of the player swap during the off season.

Westlake guard Larry Bush transferred to Calabasas. Calabasas forward Michael Hayon transferred to Westlake.

Fans could be booing, which isn’t exactly the classy way to react in high school sports. This game will test the sportsmanship of fans from both sides.

“There definitely will be administrators at the game,” Calabasas Coach Jon Palarz said.

Palarz plans to speak with Bush to make sure he doesn’t try so hard that it affects his game negatively. He might have an advantage over Hayon, who’s had to sit out the first month of the season and will be making his debut on Wednesday.

Who got the better in the player swap? The fans will probably let everyone know about that, though it’s the scoreboard that counts most.
