The Orange County District Attorney’s office has filed a lawsuit against General Motors, alleging the company engaged in unfair competition and false advertising in violation of California law when it failed to disclose defects. The lawsuit filed Friday in Orange County Superior Court seeks civil penalties between $2,500 and $5,000 for each violation, attorneys fees and the costs of the suit and asks that GM be “permanently enjoined from committing any acts of unfair competition.” It accuses GM of failing to disclose and working to conceal at least 35 vehicle defects, including faulty ignition switches and defective power steering and wiring harnesses, among others. It claims...
