Dodgers hire Nick Francona to assist with player development

The Dodgers have hired Nick Francona, who spent 2014 working in the Angels front office and handling instant-replay duties during games in the first half of the season, to be their assistant director of player development, the Angels confirmed Friday. Francona, 29, son of Cleveland Indians Manager Terry Francona, will work under recently hired Dodgers player development director Gabe Kapler, who played 12 seasons in the major leagues.
